Sustainability Knowledge and News from Five Winds International
To commemorate ten years of progress, I am pleased to introduce the Five Winds International inaugural newsletter. The articles in this first issue demonstrate the breadth of challenges being faced by your peers, and our goal is that you take away new knowledge or spark a novel idea for how to approach your own sustainability challenges.
As you read the feature articles in Sustainability Solutions, you will note some common threads that tie the pieces together and indeed, exemplify what Five Winds is all about. One major link is the importance of communication strategies in working towards sustainability goals. Our clients highlighted here will agree that a clearly planned vision needs to be supported internally by systematic processes and substantiated by technical facts and figures. Used this way, sustainability programs provide communication opportunities to reduce the negative impacts of ‘greenwashing' taking place today and to endorse the positive aspects of corporate responsibility.
Ten years ago, Five Winds began modestly as a life cycle assessment firm; as clients' needs have changed, Five Winds' support and knowledge has also expanded and evolved. Our staff now has a wide range of business, communication, and technical skills to help firms understand sustainability in manageable components, with a full range of practical sustainability implementation strategies based on each company's unique needs in this journey.
