John Heckman leads Five Winds International's Management Systems, as well as the company's Energy Industry Practice. He is a recognized expert in developing and implementing management system solutions for sustainability-related challenges, and has presented and published numerous papers on management system implementation, ISO 14001 certification, pollution prevention and life cycle management programs. John has led projects in sustainability strategy development, management system implementation and improvement, sustainability benefit valuation, and risk control framework information system development. John's varied background includes experience applying life cycle management tools to link long-term business sustainability with short-term financial success, applying environmental product-assessment tools to improve engineering design for the U.S. military, and assessing ecosystem-recovery dynamics using energy and material flow processes (as opposed to the more commonly used community dynamics). He has project experience in a wide array of industrial sectors including energy utilities, oil & gas exploration and production, maritime, consumer products, electronics, automotive, military, aviation, manufacturing, retail and government.
